Mr. O'Brien established O’Brien Law Offices in 1998. One of his firm’s most distinguishing features is their practice of both business transactions and commercial litigation. Each one helps inform the other. Litigating over the language in a contract makes a lawyer more sensitive about how to word the next contract he drafts. This happens in this office all the time.
Mr. O'Brien founded the firm, in Wheaton, Illinois in 1998, after spending five years as an associate for two Chicagoland firms. Michael's practice is concentrated in representation of entrepreneurial companies in a variety of litigation matters, including, but not limited to shareholder disputes, contract litigation, trust and estate litigation, fraud in all of its varieties, real estate litigation and employment claims.
Michael's corporate practice includes formation, merger & acquisitions, corporate dissolutions, commercial and residential real estate development, drafting and negotiating asset purchase agreements, buy/sell agreements, operating agreements, employment agreements and the like. Michael also provides ongoing corporate advice for owners of small and mid-sized businesses.
